Title of the Talk:
Operators Are Optional – The Rise of Self-Governing Cloud Platforms

Abstract :
Conventional DevOps paradigms, centered on pipeline automation, infrastructure-as-code, and reactive incident management, exhibit inherent limitations when applied to large-scale, dynamic cloud environments. This session introduces Cognitive Platform Engineering as an emerging discipline that integrates machine intelligence into the core operational fabric of cloud platforms. We examine key architectural constructs including AI-augmented deployment orchestration, self-healing infrastructure primitives, intelligent observability layers, and adaptive policy enforcement frameworks. Through analysis of enterprise transformation case studies, this talk identifies design principles and maturity models that guide organizations in evolving from rule-based automation toward platforms capable of autonomous analysis, optimization, and governance. Attendees will gain both a conceptual foundation and a practical roadmap for operationalising cognitive capabilities within their existing cloud engineering ecosystems.
